There have been many fusion dramas and fantasy historical dramas.

but it's nice to see an authentic historical drama with such a large scale

I'm glad to see that authentic historical dramas are gaining popularity.

 "Goryeo", a medieval country in Korea, and "Geran ", a

It was a long and epic war, 
fought in three waves 
over a 26-year period from 993 to 1019 AD.
 
It's a really dramatic war 
where a small country in the east
 fought off a huge empire three times, 
but it's not really known in world history.
 
Korea-Khitan War was a massive all-out war 
between the Korean peninsula states
 and the nomadic empire.
 
Early Goryeo(Korea) was
an incomplete centralized system
and a sloppy federation of ethnic groups.
 
Nonetheless, it was a historic war in which Koreans united 
as one to fend off the invasion of a vast empire
 when their country was on the brink of extinction.

 for the 50th anniversary of KBS.
It is a large-scale production
that utilizes the latest technology.
In addition to the large-scale war scenes,
the actors are amazing.

 

And in general,
 
historical dramas are often titled by the names of characters.

"Korea-Khitan War"  uniquely chose a specific era as its title.
 
The title Goryeo Guran War was chosen 
because it focuses not only on the general Kang Gam-chan,
 but also on other characters 
such as the Korea Emperor Hyunjong and the unknown hero Yang-gyu.
